Ayodhya, May 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit the Somnath Temple on May 11, where he will participate in a special ritual. He has also penned an article detailing the temple’s journey from destruction to creation. In response, spiritual leaders and representatives from Ayodhya have expressed their views.
Religious and social groups in Ayodhya have hailed the Somnath Temple as a symbol of India’s eternal culture, spiritual consciousness, and cultural renaissance. They regard PM Modi’s visit as both historic and significant.
Girish Pati Tripathi, the mayor of Ayodhya, stated that the Somnath Temple is a living symbol of India’s unbroken cultural heritage and eternal traditions. He emphasized that the temple embodies a spirit and spiritual power that can never be extinguished.
The temple was destroyed thousands of years ago, and this year marks the thousandth anniversary of that historic event. PM Modi’s participation in the special ritual on May 11 coincides with this occasion.
Tripathi noted that the Somnath Temple is not only India’s first Jyotirlinga but also a proclamation of Indian culture and spiritual consciousness worldwide. He asserted that cultures and traditions with an indomitable will to revive themselves can never be destroyed. While they may appear weakened over time, they do not vanish. He expressed pride in being a resident of Ayodhya, calling it a matter of honor and fortune.
Social activist Nitin Mishra remarked that the Somnath Temple is a major center of faith for millions. He highlighted that its existence for a thousand years is not coincidental; it is the result of a long struggle and numerous sacrifices. Despite facing invasions throughout history, the temple’s identity and significance have endured.
Mishra added that the Somnath Temple and the Ram Temple are symbols of the continuity of India’s cultural renaissance and eternal traditions. He emphasized that India’s heritage demonstrates that eternal culture is rich and resilient, impervious to any attempts at erasure.
Meanwhile, Jagat Guru Paramhansacharya Tapasvi Chhavani Peethadhishwar stated that the assaults on Indian culture and eternal traditions during the Mughal era are being reinstated by PM Modi today. He described the Somnath Temple as an integral part of India’s soul and culture. He noted that numerous attempts were made to eradicate India’s culture through force, but those who tried have faded from history, while eternal culture remains alive and strong.
He concluded that the Somnath Temple resides in the hearts of all Indians, and PM Modi is visiting as a representative of all Indians and followers of eternal faith. The saint community and eternal followers across the country stand united with PM Modi, ensuring that the Somnath Temple remains a timeless symbol of India’s cultural pride.
