
Mumbai, May 30: Amid rising global concerns over the Ebola virus, Mumbai’s Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has entered alert mode. Deputy Mayor Sanjay Ghadi has assured that the BMC is fully prepared to handle any potential Ebola emergency. Special isolation wards have been set up at Kasturba and KEM hospitals.
Gadhi noted that cases of Ebola have emerged in several countries, prompting the municipal corporation to adopt heightened vigilance. He stated, “Just as we faced the COVID pandemic together, the BMC is ready to tackle any situation similar to Ebola.”
He explained that BMC hospitals are on alert, and all necessary health facilities are in place to ensure the safety of citizens. The Deputy Mayor urged the public to remain vigilant and adhere to health guidelines. He emphasized that the virus can spread rapidly, necessitating caution among residents.
Gadhi remarked, “If a situation like Ebola arises, every individual must take responsibility. It is crucial to fully comply with any guidelines issued by the BMC, state government, and central government.”
He reiterated that the collaboration seen during the COVID crisis among various departments and citizens will be essential in facing any future health emergencies.
The BMC administration clarified that there are currently no reported cases of Ebola in Mumbai. However, as a precaution, the health system remains fully operational. Special monitoring arrangements have been established at Kasturba and KEM hospitals, with medical teams on standby for immediate action if needed.
