Mumbai, May 30: Captain Shubman Gill delivered a stunning century, propelling the Gujarat Titans (GT) into the final of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. On Friday, GT secured a commanding 7-wicket victory against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in ‘Qualifier-2’. In the title match, they will face the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

This marks the third time Gujarat Titans have reached the IPL final. In 2022, GT claimed their first title by defeating RR. Last season, they reached the final again but faced defeat against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). When GT meets RCB on May 31 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, both teams will be vying for their second championship.

Winning the toss at the Maharaja Yadvendra Singh International Cricket Stadium, the Rajasthan Royals opted to bat first. Despite a rocky start, they managed to post a formidable score of 214/6. The team lost two crucial wickets, with Yashasvi Jaiswal (1) and Dhruv Jurel (7) falling for just 9 runs in 1.5 overs. However, 15-year-old opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi stepped up to stabilize the innings.

Vaibhav formed a solid partnership with Ravindra Jadeja. He narrowly missed a century for the second consecutive match, scoring 96 runs off 47 balls, featuring 7 sixes and 8 fours. Jadeja contributed an unbeaten 45 runs off 35 balls, including 1 six and 5 fours. Additionally, Donovan Ferreira played a quick innings, scoring 38 runs off 11 balls with 6 boundaries. For the opposition, Jason Holder and Kagiso Rabada each took 2 wickets, while Mohammed Siraj and Prasidh Krishna claimed 1 wicket each.

In response, GT clinched the match in just 18.4 overs. Gill and Sai Sudharsan built a massive partnership of 167 runs for the first wicket, off 77 balls. Sudharsan scored 58 runs from 32 balls, hitting 1 six and 8 fours, while Gill smashed 104 runs off 53 balls, including 3 sixes and 15 fours.

Moreover, Washington Sundar added 16 runs off 9 balls, and Rahul Tewatia remained unbeaten with 17 runs off 9 balls, including 1 six and 2 fours. For RR, Jofra Archer, Nandre Burger, and Brajesh Sharma each took 1 wicket.
