Evian-les-Bains, May 30: Indian golfer Diksha Dagar made a remarkable start at the Jabra Ladies Open Golf Championship, scoring an impressive 4-under 67. This performance places her in a tie for second after the opening round held in France.
Diksha, a two-time Ladies European Tour (LET) winner, shares the second position with England’s Hannah Screen and Hannah Burke. They trail just one shot behind Norway’s Dorothea Forbrigd, who leads with a score of 5-under 66. In her stellar round at the Evian Resort Golf Club, Diksha recorded five birdies against one bogey.
The Indian star finished her round strongly, making birdies on her last two holes (the fourth and fifth), solidifying her position as she heads into the second round.
Avani Prashanth was the second-best Indian player, finishing tied for 36th with a score of 1-over 72. Her round included five birdies, but three bogeys and a triple bogey hindered her overall score.
However, it was a challenging day for Pranavi Urs and Hitashee Bakshi, who now face a struggle to make the cut. Pranavi scored 4-over 75, tying for 89th place, while Hitashee battled to an 8-over 79, landing in 123rd place.
Pranavi started her round on the 15th hole, experiencing a rollercoaster day with three birdies, five bogeys, and one double bogey. After an initial bogey on the 16th hole, she bounced back with a birdie on the 18th but lost another shot on the first hole.
Consecutive bogeys on the third and fourth holes, followed by a double bogey on the fifth, pushed her down the leaderboard, although she attempted to recover with birdies on the seventh and eleventh holes. Her day ended disappointingly with one last bogey on the 13th hole.
Leader Dorothea Forbrigd is in pursuit of her first LET title. The Norwegian player had a stellar opening performance, making six birdies with just one bogey. England’s Hannah Screen and Hannah Burke are also firmly in the competition, matching Diksha’s 4-under 67 score.
