Embrace Trikonasana for a Stress-Free Life and Strong Body

New Delhi, May 18: In today’s fast-paced lifestyle, physical activity is declining while mental stress is on the rise. Yoga emerges as an excellent solution to keep the body energized. Among various yoga poses, Trikonasana stands out as a simple yet effective asana. It helps improve balance by stretching the body in three directions.

The Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India, has highlighted its benefits. According to the ministry, Trikonasana is a crucial yoga pose that forms a triangular shape with the body (arms, legs, and torso) during practice. This asana not only enhances flexibility and balance but also improves respiratory capacity.

Trikonasana is particularly beneficial for those with desk jobs. Regular practice keeps the muscles active and enhances coordination among different body parts. This pose provides a unique stability to the body, increasing its ability to maintain balance and strengthening the muscles. Additionally, it aids in making the body more flexible, facilitating daily tasks.

The twisting and stretching involved in this asana activate the abdominal organs, leading to better digestion. It can be especially helpful for individuals suffering from gas, indigestion, or other stomach-related issues. Furthermore, Trikonasana enhances concentration, allowing individuals to focus better on their tasks.

To practice this asana, spread both feet 3 to 4 feet apart on a yoga mat. Turn the right foot 90 degrees outward and slightly bend the left foot inward. Extend both arms in line with the shoulders, palms facing down. Gradually lean to the right, attempting to touch the right foot or ankle with the right hand while keeping the left arm straight up. Hold this position for 20 to 30 seconds, maintaining normal breathing. Then, slowly return to the Tadasana position and repeat the process on the left side.

However, individuals with severe pain from slipped discs, sciatica, or recent abdominal surgeries should avoid practicing this asana.
