New Delhi, May 20: Arvind Kejriwal, the national convenor of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has criticized the government over the ongoing power cuts in Delhi. As the capital faces extreme heat and rising temperatures, AAP has labeled the government as completely ineffective in addressing the electricity crisis.
Kejriwal asserted that residents of Delhi are currently facing a double blow. With temperatures soaring above 45 degrees Celsius, stepping outside has become a challenge. Simultaneously, frequent power outages have exacerbated the situation for many.
On Wednesday, Kejriwal took to social media to highlight the numerous complaints about sudden power failures across the city. He referenced various social media posts and grievances, indicating that people in different areas are enduring hours without electricity. He accused the government of being indifferent to the public’s struggles, claiming that they are “asleep at the wheel.” Reflecting on his tenure, he noted that the power supply in Delhi had significantly improved under the AAP government.
He claimed that during that period, residents had nearly forgotten about power cuts, with inverter sales declining due to consistent electricity availability. However, he stated that since the BJP came to power, the electricity situation in Delhi has regressed to previous issues. He emphasized that the capital has been pushed back 15 years in terms of power supply.
Kejriwal pointed out that during this intense heatwave, uninterrupted electricity supply is crucial for the public, yet the current government has failed to deliver on this front. With temperatures continually rising and the weather department issuing heatwave alerts, public frustration over power outages is growing.
Social media is abuzz with complaints about power cuts, low voltage, and prolonged supply interruptions. Consequently, the political climate in Delhi has heated up over the electricity crisis. AAP is leveraging this issue as a significant public concern to challenge the BJP government.
