Udaipur, January 8 (Daily Kiran): A private video coach bus collided with a truck on National Highway-48 in Udaipur district late Wednesday night, leaving two people dead and 13 others injured. The accident occurred around 2 am near Pipli-A village in the Rishabhdev police station area.

According to police, the bus was travelling from Gorakhpur to Surat when it rammed into a truck moving ahead of it. The impact was severe, completely damaging the front cabin of the bus. The bus driver and another person died on the spot. The truck driver allegedly fled the scene with the vehicle immediately after the collision.
During inspection at the spot, police found illegal liquor hidden in wooden boxes inside the bus luggage compartment. Preliminary investigation revealed that the liquor was being smuggled to Gujarat under the cover of passenger luggage. The seized liquor has been taken into police custody.
On receiving information, police reached the spot, conducted a site inspection, and used a crane to remove the damaged bus and restore traffic on the highway.
Rishabhdev Station House Officer Hemant Ahari said the bodies of the deceased have been kept at the Rishabhdev mortuary, and efforts are underway to establish their identity. The injured passengers have been referred to a hospital in Udaipur for treatment. Further investigation into the accident and liquor smuggling is ongoing.
