Thiruvananthapuram, May 21: Congress MP Kodikunnil Suresh has termed the first and second cabinet meetings of the Kerala government as historic. He stated that several significant decisions have been made in the interest of the public during these meetings.
In an exclusive interview with a news agency on Thursday, he noted that the government is fulfilling its promises made to the public during the elections, and there are high expectations from the new administration.
Kodikunnil Suresh pointed out that the previous Left Democratic Front (LDF) government’s focus was solely on the K-Rail SilverLine project, which has now been canceled. He added that the current government has taken several important decisions, claiming that the public is pleased with the outcomes of the first two cabinet meetings and that the government is moving in the right direction.
Responding to the recent increase in milk prices by Milma by ₹4 per liter, he mentioned that Milma is a cooperative organization, and its chairman and board members were elected during the previous LDF government. He alleged that the decision to raise milk prices was also made at that time.
The Congress MP emphasized that the new government has only been in power for two days and has not taken any steps regarding the price hike. He clarified that this decision rests with the LDF-supported board and Milma management. He assured that the Chief Minister and the relevant minister will be approached to review this decision and demand its reversal to avoid additional burden on the common people.
With the formation of the new government in Kerala, a new political chapter has officially begun in the state. The cabinet, which includes 14 members (including Chief Minister Satisan), features several first-time ministers, with six leaders being elected as MLAs for the first time. This is seen as an attempt by the United Democratic Front (UDF) to present a youthful and new leadership image. The cabinet also includes two female ministers.
