Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, May 21: Nurses from Ghati Hospital staged a protest on Thursday under the banner of the Maharashtra Government Nurses Federation against administrative transfer orders. The protesting nurses demanded an immediate withdrawal of the transfer process, chanting slogans against the government.
During the demonstration, the nurses expressed that frequent transfers create significant challenges for employees, especially women. They highlighted that transfers every three years disrupt their family and social lives.
Indumati, the president of the Nurses Federation Maharashtra, emphasized that most nurses are women, and their transfers impact entire families. Many nurses have young children and are responsible for caring for elderly parents and in-laws. Such transfers pose numerous practical problems for these women.
She pointed out that no nurse has been accused of corruption or financial irregularities, yet transfers are being enforced. Indumati appealed to the government to reconsider and retract this decision.
Staff member Makrand stated that they have taken to the streets against the government’s transfer orders. He noted that internal transfers at the ward level already occur every two to three years at Ghati Hospital. He argued that the nurses’ transfers are not linked to any financial gain or payment system, making this widespread transfer process unjustifiable. The purpose behind the government’s action remains unclear.
Makrand further warned that if the government fails to address their demands, they will escalate their movement.
