New Delhi, May 21: The Panchang holds significant importance in Sanatan Dharma, encompassing five essential elements: Tithi, Nakshatra, Yoga, Karana, and Vara. These components guide the start of the day, determine auspicious and inauspicious times, and help in scheduling new or beneficial activities. The Panchang is not merely a timetable but an ancient scientific method to align life with nature and celestial bodies.
For May 22, 2026, the Tithi is Shukla Paksha Shashthi in the month of Jyeshtha. On Friday, sunrise will occur at 5:27 AM, while sunset will be at 7:09 PM. The moon will rise at 11:01 AM and set late at 12:32 AM (on May 23).
The Shashthi Tithi will last until 6:24 AM. After this, the Saptami Tithi will commence. However, according to Udayatithi (the Tithi at sunrise), the entire day will be considered under the Shashthi Tithi. The Ashlesha Nakshatra will prevail throughout the day and will last until 2:08 AM (on May 23), after which the Magha Nakshatra will take over. Vridhi Yoga will be in effect until 8:19 AM, and Taitil Karana will last until 6:24 AM.
Regarding auspicious timings on Friday, Brahma Muhurat will be from 4:04 AM to 4:46 AM, Abhijit Muhurat from 11:51 AM to 12:45 PM, Vijay Muhurat from 2:35 PM to 3:30 PM, and Godhuli Muhurat from 7:08 PM to 7:28 PM. These times are considered ideal for performing auspicious tasks.
On the other hand, inauspicious times include Rahu Kaal from 10:35 AM to 12:18 PM, Yamgand from 3:43 PM to 5:26 PM, and Gulika Kaal from 7:10 AM to 8:52 AM, and again from 12:45 PM to 1:40 PM. Additionally, Durmuhurta will be from 8:11 AM to 9:06 AM. The influence of Gand Mool will persist throughout the day, necessitating caution.
