
Udaipur, May 3: A tragic incident occurred at the Mansi Wakal Dam in the Jhadol area on Saturday, where a restaurant owner drowned while trying to save his friend. The deceased has been identified as 26-year-old Mohan Thapa, originally from Gulmi district in Nepal, who operated the ‘MD Chinese Restaurant‘ in Jhadol.
According to reports, Mohan was enjoying a picnic with five friends at the dam. While swimming, his friend Milan ventured into deep water and began to drown. In a heroic effort, Mohan leaped into the water to rescue him. He managed to push Milan to safety but lost his own balance and sank into the depths.
Panic ensued at the scene following the incident. His friends searched for about half an hour without success. Upon receiving the alert, police and local villagers arrived. A search operation was conducted with the help of divers, and after approximately two and a half hours, Mohan’s body was recovered around 2 PM. The body has been placed in the mortuary at MB Hospital, and the family has been notified. The community is mourning this tragic loss.
