New Delhi, September (Udaipur Kiran News) — Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced that it will launch its long-awaited PAN-India 4G network on September 27, 2025. The confirmation came from A. Robert J Ravi, Chairman and Managing Director of BSNL, during the Bharat Digital Infra Summit 2025.
“It is our indigenous technology that we are inaugurating across the country on September 27,” said Ravi.
Indigenous 4G Rollout
BSNL’s 4G services are being deployed with support from a TCS-led consortium, which includes Tejas Networks and C-DoT (Centre for Development of Telematics). The operator is also notable for being the only Indian telco offering 4G on the 700 MHz band, which is expected to deliver stronger coverage and better indoor connectivity.
The government allocated BSNL its 4G spectrum through relief packages, aiming to revive the state-run telco and ensure competition against private players Reliance Jio and Bharti Airtel.
Business Outlook
Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia recently urged BSNL to increase its average revenue per user (ARPU) by 50% and boost its enterprise business by 25–30% over the next year.
BSNL had earlier promised to launch 4G across one lakh sites by August 15, 2025, though the target was not achieved. The September 27 rollout marks the company’s most ambitious step in its revival journey.
Financial Turnaround
For the first time in years, BSNL posted net profits for two consecutive quarters in FY25 and recorded subscriber growth, a milestone even Vodafone Idea (Vi) has struggled to achieve. The government considers BSNL’s revival critical to prevent a Jio–Airtel duopoly in the Indian telecom sector.
