Moscow, May 20: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov has stated that Moscow is prepared to assist in the ongoing discussions between Iran and the United States if necessary. However, he emphasized that Russia does not intend to impose its views forcefully.
In an interview, Ryabkov remarked, “Russia is ready to provide any possible assistance in resolving this conflict, which is well-known to its parties. We have never imposed our thoughts and have no intention of doing so in the future. But if a suitable request is made, we will extend a helping hand.”
He also clarified that Moscow has always been committed to finding solutions through political and diplomatic channels. Ryabkov believes that military or pressure-based measures cannot establish lasting peace.
He welcomed the efforts from both the US and Iran to resume the negotiation process.
These statements come at a time when President Vladimir Putin of Russia and President Xi Jinping of China have underscored the importance of resolving the Middle East crisis for global peace. Jinping even mentioned the dangers of hegemony and lawlessness.
In a cautionary tone, Jinping stated, “If fighting does not cease, it will have a significant impact on the international order and global stability.” He warned that unilateral military actions and prolonged warfare could lead the world into a phase where international rules weaken. In such a scenario, halting the fighting is crucial.
He added, “We are ready to work shoulder to shoulder to create a new, more rational, and fair system of global governance, guiding the world toward prosperity. There should be a multipolar world, and new methods of international relations should be adopted.”
