
Beijing, May 20: On May 19, the semi-finals of the 2026 U-17 Men’s Football Asia Cup took place in Saudi Arabia. The Chinese team defeated Australia 2-0, marking their return to the Asia Cup final after 22 years.
In the first half, both teams were locked in a goalless draw. However, in the fourth minute of the second half, the Chinese team broke the deadlock with their first goal. They secured a second goal during injury time.
After the match, Chinese head coach Fu Qimin praised his players for demonstrating remarkable resilience throughout the tournament, especially under challenging circumstances.
In the other semi-final, Japan triumphed over the defending champions Uzbekistan, winning 3-2 in a penalty shootout.
The Chinese team will face Japan in the final on May 22.
