New System Brewing in Bay of Bengal; Heavy Rain Likely in South Rajasthan
According to Radheyshyam Sharma, Director of Jaipur Meteorological Centre, a circulation system remains active over northwest Rajasthan, and the monsoon trough line is in its normal position. This has caused heavy to very heavy rainfall in many parts of Jaipur, Ajmer, Udaipur, Kota, Bharatpur, Jodhpur, and the Shekhawati region. Eastern Rajasthan can expect moderate to heavy rains in most parts over the next five days. Heavy rain activity may decrease in parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions between 2-4 September, but a new low-pressure system is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal in the next 24 hours. This could lead to another spell of heavy rainfall in southern Rajasthan from 4 to 7 September. On Sunday, Chamu (Jodhpur) received the highest rainfall at 211 mm.
