Congress Forms 5-Member Fact-Finding Committee to Investigate Anti-Party Activities in Tamil Nadu

New Delhi, May 24: In a significant move following the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections of 2026, the Congress Party has established a fact-finding committee. This committee will investigate alleged anti-party activities and irregularities that occurred during the elections.

The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee shared this information via a post on ‘X’. The committee was formed with the approval of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. A press note issued by Girish Chodankar, in charge of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry for the All India Congress Committee (AICC), stated that the committee is tasked with examining all complaints related to anti-party activities that emerged during the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

The committee will engage with relevant parties and leaders, and it is expected to submit its investigation report, findings, and recommendations to the Congress leadership within 60 days.

This five-member fact-finding committee includes senior Congress leaders. Dr. K. Jayakumar, a former MP and ex-AICC secretary, has been appointed as the chairman. Hidayatullah, the vice president of the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee, will serve as the coordinator.

Additionally, the committee comprises Swarna Sethuraman, vice president of TNCC, former AICC secretary and senior Congress leader C. D. Meyappan, and Kamalakshi Kamaraj, national secretary of AIMC.

The Congress Party has stated its commitment to maintaining discipline, accountability, and organizational integrity within its ranks. The leadership believes that transparency and discipline at all levels are essential for strengthening the organization.
