Jharkhand Chief Minister Ensures Drinking Water Availability Amid Severe Heatwave

Ranchi, May 24: In response to the extreme heatwave affecting Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has directed district administrations and government officials across the state to ensure uninterrupted drinking water supply for the public.

The Chief Minister has instructed deputy commissioners, police superintendents, station officers, circle officers, block development officers, and local representatives to arrange adequate drinking water facilities at public places and government establishments.

In a post on the social media platform X, Soren emphasized that given the rising temperatures and heat conditions in Jharkhand, all officials must ensure proper drinking water arrangements for the public. He also urged them to prominently display information about these facilities to provide relief to pedestrians and other citizens.

Soren directed officials to promptly address water scarcity issues in affected areas by dispatching water tankers, repairing malfunctioning hand pumps, and making alternative arrangements where necessary.

He stated that all deputy commissioners should ensure immediate water supply through tankers, repair hand pumps, and implement other alternative measures wherever there is a water crisis.

Highlighting the need for a humane and swift administrative response during this extreme heat, Soren stressed that no village, settlement, or neighborhood should face a shortage of drinking water.

He further added that it is our collective responsibility to ensure that no community suffers due to a lack of drinking water. The administration must operate with sensitivity, urgency, and a humanitarian approach during this severe heat. The public interest is paramount.

Jharkhand has been experiencing intense heat over the past few days, with temperatures exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in several districts.
