
Dewas, May 23: In a significant operation against illegal liquor trade, the Industrial Police in Dewas district, Madhya Pradesh, seized 14 cases of illicit liquor and apprehended one individual. The suspect was reportedly preparing to supply the liquor from Indore to Dewas, causing a stir in the area following the police action.
According to reports, the Industrial Police received a tip-off about a person transporting a large quantity of illegal liquor to Dewas in a car. Acting on this information, police set up a blockade near Tata Chauraha and stopped a suspicious Indigo car for inspection. During the search, they discovered 14 cases of illegal liquor inside the vehicle.
The police arrested the suspect, identified as Shyam Yogi, at the scene. Preliminary questioning revealed that he was planning to sell and distribute the liquor in Dewas after bringing it from Indore. The police also confiscated the car filled with the liquor.
CSP Sumit Agarwal stated that this operation was conducted by the Industrial Area Police. He mentioned that the 14 cartons of illegal liquor seized are estimated to be worth around three lakh rupees. Authorities are currently investigating the source of the liquor and the intended recipients of the supply.
CSP Agarwal further noted that efforts are underway to gather information about other individuals involved in the illegal liquor trade. The police are examining the suspect’s network and the roles of others connected to him. They are also trying to determine the purpose behind bringing in the liquor and whether a larger gang is operating in the area.
Police officials emphasized that they are continuously conducting operations against illegal liquor trade in the district. They are committed to maintaining law and order and are taking vigilant action against illegal activities. Authorities have made it clear that such operations will continue in the future, and strict measures will be taken against those involved in illegal trade.
Currently, a case has been registered against the suspect under the Excise Act, and further investigations are underway.
