Jaipur, July 21 — The Bisalpur Dam, a critical water source for the districts of Jaipur, Ajmer, and Tonk, is nearing its full reservoir capacity as water inflow continues steadily. As of 6 AM on Monday, the dam’s water level reached 315.17 RL meters, just 0.33 meters shy of its maximum capacity of 315.50 RL meters, prompting close monitoring by local authorities.

Significant Inflow Despite No Recent Rainfall
According to the dam control room, the reservoir recorded a 27 cm rise in water level over the past 24 hours, despite no rainfall in the catchment area during this period. So far, 597 mm of rainfall has been recorded in the Bisalpur region this monsoon season, marking one of the highest rainfall figures in recent years.
The Triveni River, which feeds the dam, is currently flowing at a rate of 3.30 meters per second, contributing to the consistent rise in water levels.
Possible Gate Opening on Tuesday
If the current inflow rate continues, dam officials have indicated that the spillway gates may be opened by Tuesday afternoon to release excess water into the Banas River. However, no final decision has been made yet.
Authorities have also moved to dispel misinformation circulating on social media platforms regarding the dam gates being opened on Monday. Officials clarified that no gates will be opened today, and that a comprehensive review of the water situation will be conducted on Tuesday before any further action is taken.
Public Advisory
Residents and farmers in low-lying areas along the Banas River have been advised to remain alert and avoid unnecessary activities near riverbanks, especially if water discharge becomes necessary in the coming days.
