
Nashik, May 24: The Anti-Gang Squad of Nashik police has conducted a significant operation against illegal arms trafficking and sales, resulting in the arrest of two suspects. Police seized three country-made firearms and three cartridges from the accused. Authorities are currently pursuing further action in the case.
This operation was initiated during the investigation of cases registered under the Arms Act at the Panchavati and Nashik Road police stations. Following the directives of the police commissioner, a special focus has been placed on monitoring individuals involved in the possession and sale of illegal weapons. Under the guidance of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime), the Anti-Gang Squad was assigned to investigate both cases.
During the inquiry, police interrogated Kunal Mahindra Chavan, who was out on bail in connection with crime number 164/2026 at the Panchavati police station. Based on the interrogation, 26-year-old Bhavesh Milind Joshi, a resident of Dhule currently living in Adgaon, was detained. Two country-made firearms and two live cartridges were recovered from him.
In another investigation related to crime number 251/2026 at the Nashik Road police station, suspect Adil Jameel Syed revealed that he purchased a country-made firearm from the absconding accused Prathamesh alias Mothaiya Nelson Kasbe. Subsequently, police arrested 27-year-old Prathamesh alias Big Nelson Kasbe, a resident of Pawarwadi, and seized one country-made firearm and one live cartridge from him.
Preliminary investigations indicate that both suspects were trafficking illegal firearms and cartridges from Madhya Pradesh to Nashik for sale. The Anti-Gang Squad is continuing its investigation into the matter.
This operation was carried out by a team of police officers and staff under the leadership of Sandeep Pawar, the officer in charge of the Anti-Gang Squad. Officials have stated that strict actions against criminals will continue in the future.
