Mumbai, May 24: The political atmosphere has intensified following Congress’s Uttar Pradesh president Ajay Rai’s inappropriate remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Naseem Siddiqui, the national spokesperson for NCP (SP), stated that the use of unparliamentary language in politics should be avoided, yet it is the BJP that has initiated this trend.
In a recent conversation, Siddiqui remarked, “Unparliamentary language has no place in politics. It is not acceptable, and everyone should steer clear of it. The standard of Indian politics is declining, but it was the BJP that started this trend. Since coming to power, the BJP has promoted this culture. Even in Parliament, BJP MPs have used such inappropriate words multiple times.”
During the discussion, he also responded to Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s stance on offering prayers in public spaces. He emphasized that prayer is a religious act, and people from all faiths sometimes need to engage in religious activities in public, whether during festivals or crowded situations.
He noted that people often gather in public places during temple events or other religious occasions. Thus, it cannot be entirely condemned. According to him, this situation often arises due to a lack of space and crowding, rather than being an intentional act.
Siddiqui further stated that restricting religious beliefs is not right, and everyone should have the right to worship and pray in their own way. He concluded by saying that ultimately, everyone will return to God, so being overly strict in such matters is not appropriate.
He added, “The entire political foundation of the BJP is based on opposing Muslims. The day the BJP stops opposing Muslims, speaking against the Quran, Islam, and mosques, is the day its existence will cease. Therefore, this is not surprising. In fact, I would say that the steps the BJP is taking are actually paving the way for the progress of Muslims.”
Additionally, he expressed his views on the cancellation of registrations for over 31,000 Waqf properties in Uttar Pradesh. He said, “The government has long been eyeing Waqf properties. Once a property is declared Waqf, it cannot be changed. Waqf means that an individual or institution dedicates their property in the name of God or for society. The government is keen on this and wants to seize it.”
