Rajasthans Thermal Power Plants Set Record in Coal Unloading Without Delay Charges

Jaipur, May 24: Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited (RVUNL) has achieved a significant operational milestone. Its Suratgarh and Chhabra thermal power stations have set a record for continuous coal unloading without incurring any delay charges.

According to RVUNL, the 1,500 MW Suratgarh Super Thermal Power Project (6×250 MW) successfully unloaded over 750 coal rakes between September 4, 2025, and May 23, 2026, without any delay charges.

Similarly, the 1,000 MW Chhabra Thermal Power Project (4×250 MW) unloaded 521 coal rakes without delay charges between November 2, 2025, and May 23, 2026.

Delay charges are imposed by the railways if coal-laden trains are not emptied within the stipulated timeframe.

Officials attributed this achievement to the efficient operation and maintenance of coal management systems at both thermal power stations, along with the dedicated efforts of staff engaged in coal unloading operations around the clock.

This accomplishment surpasses the previous record set by RVUNL’s Suratgarh Thermal Power Station, which unloaded 485 coal rakes without delay charges from February 27 to July 27, 2025.

Energy Minister Hiralal Nagar congratulated the management and staff of both power stations for this achievement. He expressed confidence that other power plants under the corporation will continue to establish similar operational efficiencies.

Energy Secretary Aarti Dogra also praised this achievement and congratulated RVUNL’s Chairman and Managing Director Devendra Shrangi and his team. She encouraged all power generation centers to adopt better operational practices, strengthen teamwork, and strive for even higher performance standards.

Chairman and Managing Director Devendra Shrangi described this achievement as a reflection of effective management and employee commitment. He stated, “This record showcases the hard work, coordination, and operational efficiency of our teams.”

This milestone is seen as a significant step towards improving fuel management, reducing operational costs, and ensuring reliable power generation across Rajasthan.
