Congress Criticizes AAP MPs Joining BJP, Claims Party Has Strayed from Its Path

Jalandhar, April 24: The political landscape in Punjab has intensified following the inclusion of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MPs into the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Congress leaders have reacted sharply, targeting both the BJP and AAP in their statements.

In an interview in Patiala, Congress MP Dharmveer Gandhi remarked, “When they previously expressed their opinions about the party, AAP was making headlines worldwide, having won 67 out of 70 seats. If some leaders are dissatisfied with the party now, that reflects their own mindset. The party had already strayed from its original path, which is why they decided to leave.”

Meanwhile, Amarinder Singh Raja Wadding, President of Punjab Congress in Chandigarh, took a jab at the BJP, stating, “The BJP deserves congratulations for welcoming such leaders into their fold. They have already gathered leaders from other parties, and this trend continues. However, this will not provide any significant advantage to the BJP, but it may help AAP understand its true standing.”

Congress MLA Parghat Singh from Jalandhar also weighed in on the matter. He questioned BJP leader Manohar Kalia’s statements, asserting that this is not a new or significant political maneuver. According to him, this model has been ongoing, where leaders frequently switch parties.

He sarcastically noted that those who were once in a “small shop” have now moved to a “big mall.” This is merely a matter of political convenience. Except for a few leaders like Balbir Singh Seechewal and Harbhajan Singh, most have not seriously addressed the real issues facing Punjab.

This entire episode has stirred significant activity in Punjab’s politics. Leaders from various parties are responding in their own ways, and the exchange of accusations continues.
