Oslo, May 18: Prime Minister Narendra Modi was greeted by a large crowd of the Indian community as he arrived at his hotel. Many gathered outside to catch a glimpse of the Indian Prime Minister.
Modi did not disappoint the enthusiastic crowd. Amid chants of “Vande Mataram” and “Har-Har Modi,” he interacted with as many people as possible. Excited attendees waved the Indian flag and held up posters. The Prime Minister mingled with the expatriate Indians, dressed in vibrant attire that showcased Indian culture.
A highlight of the event at the Norway hotel was a musical performance featuring classical dance by young girls. The unique musical collaboration, which included Norwegian and Indian artists playing the violin, created a captivating atmosphere. The enchanting melodies of the tabla and sitar further enhanced the experience.
Throughout the performance, PM Modi attentively watched the artists and later acknowledged their efforts with applause. This marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Norway in 43 years, with Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre welcoming him at the airport.
In a social media post, Modi expressed gratitude for Støre’s warm welcome and noted that this visit is significant as it revitalizes India-Norway relations after more than four decades.
During his visit, Modi is set to meet with King Harald V and Queen Sonja of Norway. He will also engage in bilateral talks with Prime Minister Støre. On Monday, he will participate in bilateral meetings, and on Tuesday (May 19), he will attend the third India-Nordic Summit.
