VD Satheesan Sworn in as Keralas New Chief Minister

New Delhi, May 18: VD Satheesan has officially taken the oath as the new Chief Minister of Kerala. The ceremony took place at the Central Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, where the Governor administered the oath.

Prominent figures attended the swearing-in ceremony, including Congress MPs Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, along with the party’s national president, Mallikarjun Kharge, and other senior leaders.

With Satheesan’s oath, the decade-long rule of CPI(M) leader Pinarayi Vijayan has formally ended. The Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) has returned to power after 15 years, following the last tenure under the late former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.

Congress leaders have described this swearing-in as the dawn of a new political era in Kerala. Mallikarjun Kharge remarked that this is a historic victory for Kerala, and everyone is delighted.

He emphasized that it is a significant day for the people of Kerala, marking the UDF’s return to power after ten years. The public has rejected the decade-long governance of the LDF. It is now our responsibility to provide the people of Kerala with a good government.

In the recently concluded elections, the UDF made a remarkable comeback, winning 102 out of 140 assembly seats. The Congress alone secured a record 63 seats, marking its best performance in the state to date.
