Major Step Towards Corruption-Free Governance in West Bengal with Appointment of Clean Image Officials

Kolkata, May 18: Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has taken a significant step towards establishing a corruption-free and transparent administration in West Bengal. The BJP government appointed several West Bengal Civil Service (WBCS) officers as “Executive Assistants” for the new cabinet ministers on Monday.

According to sources, these officials were selected based on their clean, transparent, and politically neutral service records.

The state’s Personnel and Administrative Reforms Department issued a notification regarding the appointments, instructing the respective officials to assume their new responsibilities as soon as possible.

Bishwanath Chaudhary, a 2013 batch WBCS officer, has been appointed as the Executive Assistant to Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Dilip Ghosh. Chaudhary is currently serving as the Deputy Secretary in the Hooghly District Council.

Meanwhile, Krishna Chandra Munda, a 2016 batch officer, has been designated as the Executive Assistant to Backward Classes Development Minister Khudiram Tudu. He is currently stationed as the Deputy Magistrate-cum-Deputy Collector in Bankura district.

Additionally, Kaushik Kumar Maity, also from the 2016 batch, has been appointed as the Executive Assistant to Food and Supplies and Cooperation Minister Ashok Kirtania. Maity is presently working as the District Planning Officer in South 24 Parganas.

A senior official from Nabanna stated that these officers were selected after a thorough review of their service records. The selection process prioritized integrity, transparency, and a fair administrative image.

For the first time since independence, the new BJP government has initiated extensive changes in the state’s administrative structure.

Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari has also begun the process of reorganizing the Chief Minister’s Office and the state secretariat. Numerous transfers and administrative reshuffles have taken place in recent weeks.

The government has also terminated the tenure extensions of 243 officials over the age of 60 who remained in service during the previous Mamata Banerjee administration. Furthermore, two IAS officers have recently been appointed to the Chief Minister’s Office.
