New Delhi, May 18: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met with Lieutenant Governor T.S. Sandhu on Monday to discuss key issues related to development and progress. This meeting comes as the government intensifies efforts to promote public transport and implement measures to prevent flooding during the monsoon season.
The official social media account of the Delhi Lok Nivas posted, “Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met with Sardar Tarnjit Singh Sandhu at Lok Nivas. Key issues concerning Delhi’s development and progress were discussed.”
These discussions followed the Chief Minister’s reaffirmation that development work will proceed if it pertains to the welfare of the people of Delhi. She announced a budget of ₹150 crores for the development of Dwarka and a ₹6,200 crore metro expansion project from Kirtinagar to Palam.
Earlier on Monday, Chief Minister Gupta participated in the ‘Metro Monday’ initiative launched under the ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdaan’ public campaign, promoting the use of public transport, fuel conservation, and responsible citizen participation.
Following her appeal, all ministers and senior government officials in Delhi also opted to use the metro and Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses for their commutes to and from their offices.
The Chief Minister began her day by walking from her residence on Rajnivas Marg in Civil Lines to Lok Nivas, where she attended a meeting chaired by the Lieutenant Governor.
Afterward, she traveled to Kashmiri Gate Metro Station in an electric car and then took the Delhi Metro to ITO Metro Station. Upon reaching ITO, she used the feeder bus service to reach her office at the Delhi Secretariat.
Accompanying the Chief Minister during her travels were Delhi government cabinet ministers Parvesh Verma and Ravinder Indraj.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the ‘Mera Bharat, Mera Yogdaan’ campaign is not merely a government initiative but a movement for public participation. Its goal is to convey to every citizen that even a small effort made in the national interest plays a crucial role in strengthening the country’s energy security, environmental protection, and economic balance.
