PM Modi to Launch BSNL’s ‘Swadeshi’ 4G Network on September 27
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate BSNL’s indigenous 4G stack on September 27, marking India’s entry into the elite group of nations that design and manufacture telecom equipment. The launch will take place from Jharsuguda, Odisha, while Telecom Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia will attend the parallel event in Guwahati.
The rollout includes nearly 98,000 4G sites nationwide, built at a cost of ₹37,000 crore, and is part of the Digital Bharat Nidhi project to achieve 100% 4G saturation. Around 29,000–30,000 villages are being connected under this mission, significantly boosting rural connectivity.
Scindia described the network as cloud-based, future-ready, and easily upgradable to 5G, placing India alongside countries like Denmark, Sweden, South Korea, and China in telecom manufacturing capabilities.
This launch marks a new era for BSNL, reinforcing its role as India’s connectivity backbone and aligning with the government’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision.
