America Refuses Key Terms in Potential Memorandum with Iran: Report

Tehran, May 25: America is still refusing to accept certain terms in the potential memorandum of understanding (MoU) aimed at ending the conflict with Iran.

According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency, some discussions occurred between the two sides on Sunday. However, the U.S. continues to obstruct critical terms of the agreement, including the release of Iran’s frozen assets.

The report indicates that there remains a possibility that this MoU could be canceled. Iran has made it clear that it will not back down on its “red line” issues related to the protection of its people’s rights.

As reported by Xinhua News Agency, on Saturday, Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei spoke to state channel IRIB TV, stating that Iran and America are working to finalize an MoU to end the conflict.

Baghaei emphasized, “Our main focus right now is to end this imposed war.” He noted that both countries are trying to reach an agreement on a 14-point MoU.

He mentioned that a final agreement between Tehran and Washington could be reached within 30 to 60 days. Key issues under discussion include halting U.S. maritime actions or naval blockades and releasing Iran’s frozen assets.

A ceasefire was established between Iran, America, and Israel on April 8, following 40 days of conflict that began with attacks on Iran by the U.S. and Israel on February 28.

After the ceasefire, delegations from Iran and America held a round of peace talks in Islamabad, Pakistan, on April 11 and 12, but no agreement was reached.
