Washington, May 25: According to reports from American media, the White House believes it may take a few days for Iran’s leadership to approve the ongoing deal.
Axios reports that U.S. officials are hopeful that signatures on the agreement could come soon. However, they also acknowledge that negotiations are not yet finalized, and the deal could still fall through, as stated by a senior U.S. official.
A report from Xinhua News Agency indicates that it remains unclear whether this potential agreement will lead to a lasting peace or if it will address U.S. demands related to Iran’s nuclear program.
On Sunday, U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he has instructed his representatives not to rush into any agreement, emphasizing that “time is on our side.”
Trump wrote on Truth Social, “Both sides should take their time and make the right decision.” He added that U.S. sanctions on Iranian ports will remain fully in effect until an agreement is finalized and officially approved.
On the same day, Trump defended the ongoing negotiations with Iran while sharply criticizing the nuclear deal made during the Obama administration. He claimed that the current talks would prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump described the 2015 nuclear agreement as “one of the worst deals in our country’s history,” arguing that it paved the way for Iran to develop nuclear weapons.
The President further stated that the deal his administration is negotiating with Iran is the complete opposite of the previous agreement.
This statement comes at a time when Trump mentioned that a significant regional agreement between Iran and several Middle Eastern countries is nearly complete. He noted that he has been in discussions with leaders from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Pakistan, Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Bahrain regarding this issue.
