Yellow Alert Issued for Delhi-NCR: Dust Storms and Light Rain Expected

Noida, May 25: The weather has taken a turn in Delhi-NCR just before the onset of Nautapa. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert for the capital and the entire NCR region.

According to the weather department, strong dust-laden winds and light rain or drizzle are expected in the coming days. The forecast indicates surface winds could reach speeds of up to 50 kilometers per hour.

The latest forecast from the department suggests that from May 25 to May 27, Delhi-NCR will experience extreme heat and heatwave conditions. However, intermittent cloud cover and light rain may provide some relief from the soaring temperatures. The maximum temperature is expected to reach 44 degrees Celsius, with a minimum of 30 degrees.

On this day, the sky will generally be overcast, with the possibility of light rain or drizzle. Additionally, heatwave conditions are expected to persist during the afternoon and evening hours. Similar weather conditions are anticipated on May 26, with maximum temperatures again reaching 44 degrees and a minimum of 29 degrees.

Warnings for strong surface winds and heatwave conditions have also been issued for this day. On May 27, the maximum temperature is forecasted to remain at 44 degrees and the minimum at 29 degrees. The hot winds during this period may cause discomfort for residents. However, a significant change in weather is expected starting May 28.

On that day, the maximum temperature may drop to 42 degrees Celsius, while the minimum is expected to stay around 30 degrees. The day will likely be cloudy with light rain or drizzle, and no warnings have been issued. Following this, a further drop in temperature is anticipated on May 29.

The maximum temperature could reach 36 degrees, with a minimum of 29 degrees. By May 30, the maximum temperature may further decrease to 36 degrees, while the minimum could drop to 25 degrees. Cloudy skies and light rain are expected to continue during these days. Weather experts suggest that the combination of strong winds and light rain may provide some relief from the intense heat during the initial days of Nautapa.

This is why the likelihood of temperatures exceeding 46 degrees Celsius appears low at this time. However, the afternoon heat and humidity may still pose challenges. The weather department has advised residents to avoid going out during the afternoon, stay hydrated, and remain vigilant.
