IPL 2026: Jofra Archer Enters Purple Cap Race, Sai Sudharsan Leads Orange Cap

New Delhi, May 25: The league stage of IPL 2026 has concluded, setting the stage for the thrilling playoffs. In a match against the Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals’ fast bowler Jofra Archer delivered an impressive performance. He took three wickets, placing him among the top three contenders for the Purple Cap.

Archer’s remarkable spell saw him claim three wickets for just 17 runs in four overs. With this performance, he has now taken 21 wickets in 14 matches, ranking third among the season’s leading wicket-takers, surpassing Chennai Super Kings’ Anshul Kamboj.

However, the Purple Cap remains with Bhuvneshwar Kumar of Royal Challengers Bangalore, who has taken 24 wickets in 14 matches. Kagiso Rabada from Gujarat Titans is in second place with the same number of wickets, while Rashid Khan holds fifth place with 19 wickets from 14 matches.

On the batting front, the Orange Cap is currently held by Sai Sudharsan of Gujarat Titans. He has scored 638 runs at a strike rate of 157 across 14 matches. His teammate and captain, Shubman Gill, is in second place with 616 runs from 13 matches.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen ranks third among the season’s highest run-scorers with 606 runs. Delhi Capitals’ KL Rahul follows closely in fourth place with 593 runs, having played a strong innings of 60 runs against Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday. Rajasthan Royals’ 15-year-old batsman Vaibhav Suryavanshi rounds out the top five with 583 runs.
