Two Criminals Killed in Encounter with Police in Aligarh

Aligarh, May 25: In a significant police operation in Aligarh’s Atrauli area, two suspects, Raza Mohammad and Mubeen, were killed during an encounter. Two constables were also injured in the incident. The suspects were involved in a series of robberies targeting women.

SSP Neeraj Kumar Jadon informed the media that on Sunday, May 17, around 10 AM, the two criminals executed a robbery at gunpoint involving ten women in a village within the Madarak police jurisdiction. Following this, they committed additional robberies against six women on May 21 across the Gonda, Atrauli, and Chharra police areas.

Jadon stated that the police team had been active since the onset of these incidents. They monitored all roads and paths along the Bulandshahr border. Any malfunctioning cameras were repaired to enhance surveillance. The police received information that the suspects were in the Gonda area. When officers attempted to stop them, the suspects rammed their vehicle into the police car and fled while firing shots.

The SSP reported that the team quickly resumed their efforts. At approximately 3:30 PM, they received a call on Dial 112 about a robbery involving firearms in Mandoli village of the Atrauli area. Upon receiving this information, a blockade was set up. The suspects, hiding in a mango orchard, opened fire on the police. Officers urged them to surrender, but the suspects refused. During the exchange of fire, a police vehicle was hit, injuring two constables.

In self-defense, the police returned fire, injuring both criminals. They were rushed to the hospital, where doctors pronounced them dead. Their families have been notified, and legal proceedings are underway.

The SSP emphasized that the police team had been diligently working since the incidents came to light. They had also obtained some footage related to the crimes. On the night of May 21, a reward of ₹25,000 was announced for information leading to the suspects. Raza Mohammad had 40 criminal cases registered against him and had been active in various districts, including Hapur, Amroha, Bagpat, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, and Bulandshahr.

Regarding Mubeen, the SSP noted that he was a resident of Bulandshahr with 27 cases against him, including 18 robbery cases across different police jurisdictions.

Additionally, it was revealed that Raza Mohammad had previously committed a robbery in Noida during which he also assaulted a woman. He had been imprisoned for firing at police officers but was released in the last week of the previous month.
