Nashik, May 25: In a high-profile harassment case linked to Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) BPO in Nashik, AIMIM Councillor Matin Patel has been summoned.
Authorities reported that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) from Nashik police has called Patel for questioning regarding his alleged assistance to the accused, Nida Khan. The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
Previously, on May 22, Nashik police filed an initial charge sheet of 1,500 pages against the accused in the Additional Sessions and Special Court located on Nashik Road. This charge sheet was submitted following an investigation into allegations of rape and religious sentiments being hurt, stemming from a case originally registered at the Deolali police station in Nashik. Additionally, eight other FIRs have been lodged by TCS employees at the Mumbai Naka police station, with only one case currently having a charge sheet filed.
An official statement from Nashik Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik’s team indicated that the SIT has gathered evidence related to the victim’s forced religious conversion, which has caused an affront to religious sentiments.
Police have also seized original documents used by the accused to change the victim’s name and identity. Furthermore, digital and technical evidence, including WhatsApp chat screenshots from the victim and the accused’s mobile phones, has been recovered. The charge sheet names Danish Ejaz Sheikh, Tausif Bilal Attar, Nida Ejaz Khan, and AIMIM leader Matin Patel as accused, none of whom have been granted bail.
The case has garnered widespread attention and sparked outrage across Maharashtra following revelations of alleged organized harassment in the workplace.
