Political Turmoil in Tamil Nadu: TTV Dhinakaran Backs AIADMKs Claim to Form Government

Chennai, May 9: Political activity in Tamil Nadu has intensified regarding the formation of the government. TTV Dhinakaran, the General Secretary of the Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK), officially submitted a letter to Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar on Friday, expressing support for Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s claim to form the AIADMK government.

In his letter, Dhinakaran clearly stated that he fully supports Edappadi K. Palaniswami’s claim to establish a new government in Tamil Nadu as the AMMK General Secretary. He also mentioned that his party’s candidate, S. Kamaraj, who contested from the Mannargudi assembly constituency (167), has been elected as an MLA and has signed the support letter as well.

Dhinakaran has requested the Governor to invite Edappadi K. Palaniswami to form the government and administer the oath of office as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. This move is seen as a significant development in the state’s politics, potentially influencing upcoming power equations.

Earlier, actor-politician and leader of the Tamilga Vetrikazhagam (TVK), C. Joseph Vijay, formally claimed to form the government in Tamil Nadu after securing support from several opposition parties on Friday. His coalition reportedly claims to have surpassed the majority figure in the 234-member assembly. Vijay met with the Governor of Tamil Nadu at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai, during which he submitted letters of support from allied parties and independent supporters.

It is noteworthy that TVK emerged as the largest party in the assembly elections, winning 108 seats. However, initially, the party fell short of the majority figure of 118 seats required to form the government in the 234-member house. Congress was the first party to extend support to Vijay, with five newly elected MLAs backing the TVK leader.
