Ranchi, June 4: Babulal Marandi, the leader of the opposition in the Jharkhand Assembly and a prominent BJP figure, has raised serious concerns about the state government’s healthcare system. He shared a video and images showing government medicines discarded in a forest area in Latehar district. Marandi is demanding an investigation and action against those responsible for this incident.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Marandi claimed that a significant quantity of government medicines was found thrown in the forest between the Manika police station and the Dumuhan River. He emphasized that this is not just a case of wastage but a grave issue related to the rights of poor patients to receive treatment, as well as the misuse of public resources funded by taxpayers.
The opposition leader accused the state government of neglecting the plight of poor patients who struggle to access medicines and basic healthcare facilities in government hospitals, while government medicines are being carelessly discarded. He stated that this incident raises serious questions about the functioning and oversight of the health department.
Marandi also criticized the state’s health minister, Irfan Ansari, alleging that the health department is more focused on responding to critics and engaging in social media activities rather than addressing public issues. He questioned how government medicines ended up on the roadside or in forest areas when patients are suffering from a lack of medications.
Furthermore, he inquired about the level of investigation conducted so far and whether any officials or employees have faced consequences for this negligence. Marandi urged Chief Minister Hemant Soren to intervene, stressing that alleged irregularities in the health system and the wastage of government resources should be taken seriously.
