Bengaluru, June 4: Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge has indicated that the distribution of portfolios in the state cabinet may be finalized by Thursday evening. However, he emphasized that the reports circulating in the media are merely speculation.
Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Priyank Kharge, son of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, stated that no final decision has been made regarding the allocation of departments.
He remarked, “The distribution of portfolios among ministers has not yet occurred. The news in the media is just speculation. The Chief Minister has assured that a decision may be reached by evening. Let’s see what happens.”
Priyank Kharge also noted that every leader in public life should view their responsibilities as an opportunity to serve the people.
He stated, “Everyone should accept the responsibilities assigned to them. No position is too small or too big. Any opportunity should be utilized for the service of the people.”
When asked if he would be appointed as the Home Minister, he replied that regardless of who holds the position, the law and constitution must prevail.
He added, “Whoever becomes the Home Minister must act within the law. Everyone must work within the framework of the constitution and the law.”
Defending the appointment of B.K. Hariprasad as the President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC), Priyank Kharge described Hariprasad as a disciplined and experienced party worker who has made a name for himself at the grassroots level.
He said, “He is a disciplined soldier of the party. He began his political journey with the Seva Dal and NSUI. His ideology aligns with that of Congress. He has worked at the grassroots level and has held responsibilities as General Secretary and in charge of various states.”
Priyank Kharge expressed that Hariprasad’s appointment, given his organizational experience in states like Gujarat, Assam, Haryana, and Karnataka, will strengthen the Congress organization in the state.
He remarked, “It is a matter of joy that a common worker has reached this position. His appointment is a source of pride for all of us. His experience will help organize and strengthen the party.”
Regarding responsibilities within the party, Priyank Kharge mentioned that both Satish Jarkiholi and B.K. Hariprasad have expressed their willingness to accept any responsibilities assigned to them.
He stated, “It is being said that there is confusion within the party, but that is not the case. We are all ready to fulfill any responsibility.”
Notably, Satish Jarkiholi has publicly expressed his desire to become the President of the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) multiple times.
