Major Crackdown on Illegal Activities by Transgender Individuals in Bhopal Division

Bhopal, June 4: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has launched a significant operation against individuals, including transgender persons, involved in illegal extortion within the Bhopal division of the West Central Railway. Over the past five months, actions have been taken against 346 transgender individuals.

This initiative comes in response to ongoing complaints from rail passengers and aims to ensure safety, convenience, and uninterrupted travel within railway premises and trains. The RPF conducted a thorough investigation and monitoring to prevent activities such as harassment for money, forced extortion, and disruptions during travel.

In total, 346 transgender individuals were apprehended under various provisions of the Railway Act during the first five months of 2026. A fine of ₹215,735 was collected, with over ₹29,000 collected from 39 individuals in May alone.

The RPF has instructed all posts within the division to maintain continuous surveillance, conduct regular inspection campaigns, and ensure prompt and effective action on complaints received from passengers. The railway administration is committed to providing a safe, convenient, and fear-free travel environment.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Saurabh Kataria stated that such special operations against activities affecting passenger safety and convenience will continue. The RPF also urges passengers to report any inconvenience, forced demands for money, or suspicious activities to the railway helpline at 139 or to the nearest RPF personnel for swift action.
