New Delhi, April 4: The team from the Preet Vihar police station in East Delhi recently conducted a significant operation, resulting in the arrest of two thieves. They recovered a stolen Honda Activa scooter and two mobile phones during the operation.
Led by Inspector Mukesh Kumar, Head Constable Pushpendra, along with Ram Singh, Ravindra, and Constable Chetan, the team spotted two suspicious individuals on a scooter without a license plate while patrolling near Chitra Vihar Road on April 1. Upon noticing the police, the suspects attempted to flee, but the team pursued and apprehended them. A check revealed that the blue Honda Activa was stolen and listed in a prior e-FIR.
During the search, one suspect, Mohin alias Kattar, was found with a Samsung Galaxy A54, while the other, Gulfam alias Tabba, had a Samsung M31. During interrogation, both confessed to stealing the scooter approximately three months ago from Geeta Colony, which they were using for mobile thefts. Their plan was to sell the scooter after committing several thefts. Both have been arrested, and legal proceedings are underway.
Mohin, 25, is a resident of Aram Park, Shastri Nagar, while Gulfam, 23, hails from Khureji Khas, Shahdara. Both have previous criminal records, with Gulfam having seven cases against him and Mohin ten, including charges of theft and weapon-related offenses.
In a continuous effort to curb rising incidents of theft and snatching in the East District, the Special Staff team successfully apprehended an active criminal. On April 2, acting on a tip-off, the team set up a trap under the Akshardham Flyover near Noida Link Road and arrested a snatcher named Bablu. They seized ₹40,000 in cash from him, along with a motorcycle, and another motorcycle was recovered based on his indications. The cash was linked to an FIR. Bablu has been arrested, and further questioning is ongoing.
Bablu, 40, is a resident of Madangiri, Delhi. He is illiterate and works as a daily wage laborer. He has a history of involvement in theft and weapon-related cases. His arrest has led to the revelation of several old snatching cases, helping the police identify active criminals and ensure public safety.
