Mumbai, May 14: Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal for fuel conservation, several leaders and ministers have begun reducing their motorcades. They emphasize the need to decrease petrol and diesel consumption and use these resources wisely.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that in response to the Prime Minister’s call, governments are taking steps in this direction. He mentioned that the number of vehicles in his convoy has been reduced to save fuel. He added that when it comes to national interests, governments act accordingly, and policies are being implemented with this spirit. However, he criticized the Congress party for focusing solely on finding faults.
In Madhya Pradesh, BJP MP Rahul Singh Lodhi remarked, “Given the current international situation, especially the ongoing tensions between Iran and the United States, Prime Minister Modi has emphasized ‘Vocal for Local.’ I urge everyone to focus on saving the nation and protecting the economy, as the Prime Minister has suggested. We should advance with the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative, as it will help secure India’s economy.”
BJP MP Rekha Sharma from Panchkula in Haryana stated, “The Prime Minister has reduced his convoy size by 50%, and subsequently, all chief ministers and other leaders have followed suit. I believe we should all implement this. I also think it’s time to start metro services in Chandigarh. If metro facilities are available, people will use personal vehicles less.”
Similarly, BJP state in-charge Satish Poonia remarked, “The Prime Minister speaks responsibly and always in the nation’s interest. He addresses citizens as part of his duty and accountability. This has had an impact. Whenever the Prime Minister initiates a move, there is a tremendous response from across the country.”
Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma added, “When the Prime Minister starts something, the entire country follows. What PM Modi says is always in the nation’s interest.”
From Mumbai, Mayor Ritu Tawde also emphasized that in the current circumstances, people should use resources like diesel and cooking gas wisely. She suggested adopting electric vehicles where possible and promoting work-from-home arrangements to reduce fuel consumption.
