Aligarh, May 14: A school bus overturned in the Gangiri police station area near the Aligarh-Hathras border, injuring several students. This incident was reported by Aligarh’s Rural SP, Manish Kumar Mishra, on Thursday.
Local villagers rushed to the scene immediately after the accident, breaking the bus windows to rescue trapped students. Some children sustained minor injuries and were taken to a nearby medical center, while one seriously injured child was referred to a hospital in Aligarh.
According to police officials, the bus was transporting children to school when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to flip into a ditch by the roadside.
SP Manish Kumar Mishra stated that police arrived promptly at the scene after receiving the report. Approximately seven to eight children were injured in the incident. One child suffered facial injuries and has been hospitalized in Aligarh. An investigation into the matter is currently underway.
Authorities confirmed that all other injured children are out of danger. A thorough investigation has been initiated, focusing on the condition and safety compliance of the school bus.
This incident has once again raised concerns about the safety standards of school vehicles in Uttar Pradesh. On March 2, a tragic accident in Kasganj district resulted in the death of a six-year-old girl who fell from a moving school bus and was crushed under its rear wheels. The deceased was identified as Ananya Kumari, a UKG student at Mount Dev International School in Aligarh.
