Explosion at Firecracker Factory in Dewas Claims Lives and Injures Many

Dewas, May 14: A tragic explosion occurred at a firecracker factory in Dewas district, Madhya Pradesh, on Thursday. The incident resulted in the deaths of two workers, with over a dozen others injured. Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed his sorrow over the event and ordered an investigation.

The explosion happened around 11:30 AM at a firecracker factory located in the Tonkakala area of Dewas. The blast was so powerful that it shook the entire building, causing panic among nearby residents. Chaos ensued as smoke billowed from the site, and workers inside the factory scrambled to escape.

Initial reports indicate that two workers lost their lives, while more than a dozen sustained injuries. The injured were rushed to the district hospital in Dewas for treatment. Those in critical condition have been referred to Indore for further medical care. There are concerns that the death toll may rise.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav described the news of casualties in the explosion as heartbreaking. He has instructed the district in-charge and Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda, along with the Home Secretary and senior officials, to visit the site.

An investigation into the incident has also been ordered. In a gesture of support, the Chief Minister announced financial assistance of ₹4 lakh for the families of the deceased and directed that the injured receive free medical treatment. In his message of condolence, CM Yadav prayed for the peace of the departed souls and strength for the grieving families, as well as a swift recovery for the injured.
