Patna, April 23: In a significant operation, Patna police have dismantled a drug trafficking ring in the Rupaspur area of Bihar’s capital. On Wednesday, authorities arrested three traffickers and seized a substantial amount of illicit substances along with counterfeit currency.
According to police reports, they received a tip-off about drug transactions occurring at a residence located on Digha-Khagaul Canal Road in New Shivaji Nagar. Acting on this information, the police cordoned off the area and conducted a thorough search.
Bhanu Pratap Singh, the city police superintendent, revealed that the operation resulted in the recovery of 158 grams of smack, four mobile phones, four ATM cards, and ₹9,000 in cash. Additionally, police confiscated 90 counterfeit ₹500 notes, which are banned by the Indian government. The three suspects were apprehended at the scene.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Abhimanyu Singh, Raj Narayan Chaubey, and Suresh Kumar Singh. A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at the Rupaspur police station. Authorities are currently interrogating the suspects to uncover the source of the drugs and their intended distribution points.
Patna police assert that their ongoing campaign against drug-related crimes is yielding consistent results. Over the past three months, they claim to have seized narcotics worth more than ₹45 crores, marking a significant blow to the rapidly expanding drug network in the city.
On April 6, a related operation based on confidential information led to the recovery of 9,370 units of narcotic injections and 5,537 units of codeine-based cough syrup, along with antibiotics and anti-venom medications.
