Mangalore, April 10: The Police Commissioner of Mangalore has issued a Red Corner Notice against two fugitives currently hiding abroad. The notice targets Suleiman, also known as Sameer, and Shamsuddin, also referred to as Altaf.
Suleiman is accused of kidnapping a student couple in Deralakatte in 2013. Allegations include brutally attacking the male student and committing gang rape against the female student. He is also implicated in an attempted murder case involving a sub-inspector from the Urwa police station. In total, 14 cases have been registered against him, including seven under Section 307 (attempted murder). Some of these cases have resulted in his acquittal.
On the other hand, Shamsuddin, along with his accomplices, allegedly kidnapped a man named Praveen in 2008 from the Pavanji Bridge. They reportedly assaulted him, stole his vehicle and valuables, and took him to a stone quarry near Kalavaru.
Shamsuddin and his associates are accused of drowning Praveen in a quarry pit, binding his body with stones, and disposing of him in water to destroy evidence. Subsequently, Shamsuddin changed his name to Sheikh Mohammad Sadiq, obtained a passport under this new identity, and fled abroad.
Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy stated that anyone providing information about these two individuals, who are currently in hiding abroad, will lead to their immediate detention. Legal proceedings will be initiated against them in India and relevant countries according to applicable laws.
