New Delhi, April 10: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to take the oath as a member of the Rajya Sabha today. This move is seen as a signal for a leadership change in the state.
Kumar arrived in New Delhi on Thursday afternoon and confirmed that he would soon resign from his position as Chief Minister.
Speaking to reporters, he explained his decision, stating, “I have done a lot of work in Bihar. Now I feel that I should be here, and that is what I am doing.”
He further added, “I will step down from my position and work here. I will resign in three or four days. New individuals will be appointed as Chief Minister and ministers.”
Accompanying Nitish Kumar were Sanjay Jha, the national executive president of the Janata Dal (United), and Bihar Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary.
Earlier, Sanjay Jha indicated that the process of forming a new government in Bihar would begin after April 13.
Kumar’s recent statements have clarified that a leadership change is imminent.
Meanwhile, Bihar Minister Vijay Chaudhary noted that the entire NDA, including the BJP and its allies, is united in promoting Nitish Kumar’s governance model.
He stated, “We will continue to work under the ‘Nitish model,’ which has led to significant progress in Bihar over the past two decades. This will define our path forward.”
After taking the oath as a Rajya Sabha member, Nitish Kumar may participate in a crucial meeting in New Delhi with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, where the framework for forming a new government in Bihar will be discussed.
Sources suggest that NDA’s top leaders may finalize the name of the new Chief Minister and the distribution of cabinet positions.
These decisions are likely to be made in the presence of Nitish Kumar, Narendra Modi, and Amit Shah, highlighting the significance of this meeting.
Meanwhile, Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha have also arrived in New Delhi. They are expected to attend a core committee meeting of the BJP, where discussions regarding leadership and power-sharing in Bihar are anticipated.
These high-level meetings are taking place amid ongoing political changes in Bihar, where Nitish Kumar has already indicated his intention to resign after joining the Rajya Sabha.
