New Delhi, May 22: Continuing its humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan, India has dispatched 20 tons of Bacillus Calmette-Guérin (BCG) and Tetanus-Diphtheria (TD) vaccines to Kabul to bolster vaccination efforts among Afghan children.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal announced on social media platform X, “India has provided 20 tons of essential supplies of BCG and TD vaccines to enhance the immunization program for children in Afghanistan, with more consignments on the way. India is committed to assisting the Afghan people in the health sector.”

Earlier in April, India had sent 13 tons of BCG vaccine and related supplies to support the immunization program against tuberculosis (TB) for Afghan children.

In a post on X, Jaiswal stated, “India has provided 13 tons of BCG vaccine and related supplies to the Afghan Public Health Ministry to enhance the immunization program against tuberculosis.”

On April 5, India delivered humanitarian aid and disaster relief materials (HADR) to Afghanistan due to difficulties faced by the people following floods and earthquakes. India expressed solidarity with the Afghan people and pledged to provide humanitarian assistance during this challenging time.

The Foreign Ministry posted on X, “In light of the recent floods and earthquakes causing hardships for the Afghan people, India is sending HADR materials, including kitchen sets, hygiene kits, plastic sheets, tarpaulins, sleeping bags, and much more. India demonstrates solidarity with the Afghan people and is determined to provide humanitarian aid and support during this difficult period.”
