Deoria, May 22: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated and laid the foundation for 19 development projects worth ₹655 crores in Deoria on Friday. He stated that his government is not one that avoids problems but rather one that provides solutions. “We offer solutions, which is why the public chooses us,” he remarked. Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the nation and Uttar Pradesh have gained new momentum in development, and this journey will not stop.
The Chief Minister noted that since 2014, the country has witnessed the emergence of a new India. Following Prime Minister Modi’s vision, the Uttar Pradesh government has prioritized rapid infrastructure development. The faster the pace, the quicker the benefits of development reach the common people. During his address, he mentioned that the construction of an agricultural university in Kushinagar is nearly complete and preparations should be made to start it in the new academic session. This university will guide farmers towards modern techniques, lower costs, and higher production.
Reflecting on his past as a Member of Parliament from Gorakhpur, he recalled frequent visits to Deoria during a time of chaos and oppression. Roads from Gorakhpur to Deoria were in poor condition, with many single-lane stretches and frequent traffic jams at the Chauri Chaura railway crossing. Today, Deoria is connected by four-lane roads, significantly reducing travel time to Gorakhpur.
He added that road projects from Deoria to Ballia are progressing. The construction of the Deoria-Kasya four-lane road and bypass will not only ease traffic but also enhance north-south connectivity. This route will link Deoria to Mau, the Purvanchal Expressway, Varanasi, and Lucknow, connecting with the Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway. This will elevate connectivity in Purvanchal to new heights.
CM Yogi emphasized that good roads, flyovers, bridges, and robust infrastructure are the foundation of employment and investment. With this mindset, the government has approved funds for the Deoria-Kasya and Barhaj road projects, flyovers, and other bridges. This is just the beginning, not the end. The construction of the bypass in Deoria is progressing rapidly, and all development projects will be completed on time. Every project related to the public is being prioritized for approval.
Recently, in a meeting with MPs and MLAs regarding the PWD work plan, directives were issued to advance all necessary projects. The Chief Minister pointed out that a few years ago, no one could have imagined a medical college in Deoria, yet today, a government medical college named after Maharishi Deoraha Baba is operational. Work will soon commence on the construction of a new district hospital. The ITI is not just a technical institution but has been transformed into a skill development center, training youth and linking them with industries. This will boost employment and strengthen the state’s economy.
He criticized the law and order situation before 2017, stating that mafia were active in every district. There was unrest during festivals, land grabs from the poor, and a climate of fear among daughters and traders. Today, Uttar Pradesh’s identity has changed. The phrase “One District-One Mafia” has been replaced by “One District-One Medical College” and “One District-One Product.” Now, daughters are safe, traders operate freely, and no goon dares to collect taxes.
He noted that daughters are working night shifts, and if any harasser dares to misbehave, they face severe consequences. The Chief Minister mentioned that farmers are receiving ₹400 per quintal for sugarcane, benefits from the Prime Minister’s Kisan Samman Nidhi, and efforts are underway to increase their income through agricultural schemes. The government provides facilities like the Prime Minister’s Housing Scheme, Chief Minister’s Housing Scheme, ration, and Ujjwala Yojana without discrimination. Teachers, instructors, and cooks have also been linked to cashless health services, enhancing social security.
CM Yogi acknowledged the overwhelming support from Deoria’s citizens in the 2022 elections, where the BJP won all seven assembly seats. Therefore, the government will not allow any development project in Deoria to stall. He assured that development works in areas like Salempur, Tamkuhi, Barhaj, Rudrapur, Pathardeva, and Rampur Karkhana will progress swiftly. He criticized the previous Samajwadi Party government for providing only “token money” for the Mohan Singh Setu, promising that the current government will complete bridge construction on time without any funding shortages.
CM Yogi stated that Uttar Pradesh’s identity was once associated with goons and mafias, but now it is recognized across the country with respect and pride. Uttar Pradesh has become a confluence of heritage and development. He highlighted the cultural and religious renaissance in the state, mentioning Ayodhya, Kashi, Mathura-Vrindavan, Naimisharanya, Vindhyadhama, Prayagraj, and Kushinagar. The grand temple of Lord Shri Ram in Ayodhya is a testament to the power of the people’s vote and the commitment of the double-engine government. He urged the public to continue blessing BJP representatives for development and good governance.
He concluded by stating that Uttar Pradesh’s identity has changed globally. Whether in Arunachal, Maharashtra, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal, or Tamil Nadu-Kerala, wherever they go, even those who do not know Hindi smile and greet him with “Yogi Ji, Jai Shri Ram!” He reflected on how even those unfamiliar with Hindi express their greetings with “Jai Shri Ram.” Today, their identity is linked to Ram, Krishna, and Baba Vishwanath, which is a blessing from their deities.
