New Delhi, May 22: Former Indian cricket star and Rajya Sabha member Harbhajan Singh is facing criticism from leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). The backlash has intensified on social media, where he has responded to a critic.
A user on the platform X questioned, “Harbhajan Singh, why don’t you resign from the Rajya Sabha seat given to you by the leader you constantly criticize?” The user even labeled him a “traitor.”
In response, Harbhajan shared the post on X, stating, “When the right time comes, I will answer every comment. I have not disrespected any of your leaders. Why should I tarnish my reputation? Those calling me a traitor should first ask their own people how much the Rajya Sabha seat from Punjab was sold for. If they don’t tell you, I will reveal who received what bribes and from whom, and how some were made ministers or guards to loot Punjab and deliver goods to ‘Lala.’ Punjab has been plundered and exploited.”
Harbhajan was nominated to the Rajya Sabha from Punjab by the AAP. Recently, seven AAP MPs, led by Raghav Chadha, left the party to join the BJP. This has led to anger among AAP workers, who protested outside Harbhajan’s residence in Jalandhar, Punjab. Following the protests, the Punjab government also withdrew his security. The AAP government in Punjab is led by Bhagwant Mann.
