Mumbai, May 22: Renowned actress Riddhi Dogra shared a powerful message on social media on Friday, addressing the youth about the evolving meanings of marriage. In her post, she advised everyone to accept reality. Riddhi highlighted that in recent years, both boys and girls have faced numerous heartbreaking incidents post-marriage, shaking societal norms.
She stated, “Let me remind you, it is 2026. Boys and girls, please stop viewing marriage as a fairy tale. The world your parents grew up in was different, and the meaning of marriage has changed today. Boys must understand that girls will no longer accept everything blindly. Laws and society have empowered women more than ever.”
Riddhi emphasized that today, marriage is not a necessity for economic or social support but rather a matter of love and desire. She added, “Girls should realize that boys are also human beings trying to understand the changing world. They, too, are navigating new responsibilities as societal expectations evolve. I urge everyone not to expect a fairy tale marriage. Educate yourselves, learn to live for yourselves, and raise your voice. Do not expect someone else to always stand up for you.”
In her message, Riddhi explained that the foundation of marriage should be based on love and mutual respect. She advised marrying someone you genuinely appreciate as a good person. It’s essential to minimize external interference in married life. A respectful marriage is a relationship between two individuals, not a crowd. True feminism is about equality. When I advocate for mental health, it applies equally to both women and men.”
She clarified that the goal of feminism has never been to belittle or weaken men. Although it began with anger and significant movements, as all social revolutions do, the situation has changed dramatically today. Women now have ample opportunities, and the equality that previous generations fought for is becoming a reality.
