New Delhi, May 22: The Indian Army has issued a significant clarification regarding a viral video from a press conference circulating on social media and various media platforms. The Army has urged the public to remain vigilant against rumors and misleading propaganda. It stated that certain former soldiers and a fugitive are deliberately spreading false, misleading, and malicious claims aimed at tarnishing the image of the Indian Army.
According to the Army, the viral video features individuals named Chandu Chavhan, Harendra Yadav, and P. Narendra. These individuals were previously in the Army but were dismissed due to indiscipline and civilian misconduct.
The Army clarified that these individuals had been found guilty of violating military regulations and behaving contrary to the dignity of service. Consequently, appropriate action was taken against all three. Additionally, a fourth individual, Shankar Singh Gujjar, was also seen in the press conference video.
The Army has labeled Shankar Singh Gujjar as a fugitive. Reports indicate that he had deserted his duty, and disciplinary proceedings are ongoing against him in both military and civil courts.
The Indian Army stated that these individuals are using social media to divert attention from their dismissal and personal misconduct. The Army accused them of intentionally disseminating videos and messages designed to create confusion among the general public and question the credibility of the Indian Army. It also reminded the public that a prior official clarification was issued on September 17, 2024, regarding fake and misleading videos and messages spread by Chandu Chavhan and Harendra Yadav.
At that time, the Army had again urged citizens to disregard rumors and rely solely on official information. The Indian Army has advised citizens to refrain from sharing any unverified information, videos, or statements circulating on social media.
The Army warned that misinformation could impact both national security and public trust. It reiterated that the Indian Army is a disciplined and professional institution, dedicated to the security and integrity of the nation. Therefore, it is crucial to remain alert against attempts to undermine the Army’s reputation through misleading propaganda.
